The “Happy to be in Prague” Dance

Waking up in Prague is pretty easy. For starters, no matter how well you think you’ve closed the drapes in your room, sunlight will get through. A lot of sunlight.  If that isn’t enough to wake you up, the constant construction that is going on around the hotel will. It makes for a very early morning, but that’s okay because it gives you that much longer of a day.

Since we had some free time before the theatre shows at night, the six of us decided that we would just wander around Prague trying to find somewhere to eat and places to check out.

As we walked down the streets and back up the streets and down hills and up hills, and climbed towers, we finally came to a place to eat – Einstein’s Pizza. Einstein’s Pizza has to be the best pizza ever to be made.  After splitting three pizzas, we decided we wanted some relaxation before walking around the city some more, so we found this really cool park to hang out at.

One of the best features of this park was its playground. Equipped with a merry-go-round contraption, the playground was quickly put to good use, although I’m not so sure how keen the parents were about us being there; the kids seemed to enjoy it, though. Since the playground was only at the beginning of the park, we wanted to go further in and see what else it had to offer. We walked for a bit and then decided, “What the heck? We’re in Prague – Let’s dance!”

Our “Happy-We-Are-In-Prague” dance quickly caught the attention of a local who told us we looked very happy (looks like the dance worked) and asked us if we were Australians. We told him that we were American. This started an hour-long dialogue between us about his English skills, his dog, American history, and everything else you could think of. Since it was our first real experience with someone from the Czech Republic, we decided we should film our response to him once the conversation was over.

Once we had enough of the park, this tower caught our eye. We climbed up 10 stories to get to the top of it (181 stairs) and we were greeted by one of the most breathtaking views of all of Prague. It was a great way to end our first of many day trips wandering around Prague – although, I think a nap might be in order.
